Final Day of Gramma and Grampa Vacation

One lone photo for the day today but its precious. It came with the caption "naps are overrated". Thank you, Mom, for sending and posting so many pics that whole week! I always looked forward to them! And thank you both for the incredible week for the kids, too!

Bye Puerto Vallarta - Day 5

The last day of vacation always kind of stinks. You switch out of vacation mode at a point and into "I just want to be home mode." Fortunately for us, we had a few hours left of vacation mode before our switch was turned.

Beautiful sunrise to treat us our last morning. View from the room.

Beachside wanderings with my love. We felt we needed a hashtag. You know, that we hadn't ACTUALLY used the whole trip. We are that cool.

I popped up at the pool for some reading and podcasting before we got on the road. The practical side of me didn't want to get my suit all went again. Boo, practicality...

This is us. Waiting for our shuttle to go to the airport.

Fast forward through the headache that is leaving a foreign country with some added hiccups in. Argh. Finally, we were up. Get me back to my babies! Bye, Mexico!

Fast forward 11 freaking hours later. Customs, immigration, bags, security all on our layover while we re-entered our country. Just to rush to our plane to sit on it for 2.5 hours (separated from my hubby on this one I may add.) To take off and circle over Iowa for 1 hour. To be re-routed over Minnesota (what?!) and plunged through a storm over Chicago, just to (yep you guessed it) sit on a plane for nearly another hour because we couldn't even cross the runway to get to our gate it was so backed up. Oh yea, and baggage claim. Never.checking.bags.again. There, its in writing Mike. Done. So done. I had to do everything in my power not to crawl into one of my kids beds with them when we finally got back to my parents' at 2:30am (it was supposed to be 8:30pm) and curl up with them. I was so, so glad to be back under the same roof as them!

Gramma and Grampa Vacation - Day 4

The kids had a fun waterpark trip with Gramma and one of her friends (and her grandchildren) this day. Fun fact - this was the waterpark we went to growing up, and these waterslides are the same ones my brother and I first rode down. You know, back in the day when they let parents slide down slides holding their kids in their laps. I digress.

Of course Troy loved 'em.

While he's tried the diving board this summer, I guess it surprised me a little to see a pic of him perched on the diving rock (and the higher of the two, of course) in the deep well. But he did it. And swam to the side like a champ. Nice work, Troy!

A picnic with the crew. Just realized Troy was the lone dude that day.

Later that night, a special shipment arrived to Gramma and Grampa's full of new mini figs. He. was. thrilled. Betcha can't tell!?!

Puerto Vallarta Vacation - Day 4

This day was our last full day on the ocean. We started with a workout and espresso from the coffee bar. I had run over to the coffee bar one day to pick some up for us but Mike insisted we go together because "No way I can see a part of this hotel without him seeing it too". I wonder why Troy gets it from. LOL.

This was Mike and his 290 peso sunscreen.

We got suited up and headed out. I felt like playing in the waves a bit :)

It was a couple of hours and Mike decided to retreat to the room for a nap in the A/C. I relocated to the pool upstairs and relaxed, relaxed alone.

Munchies set in after awhile and I had a burger and fries. But the fries were just what I ended up eating. The burger stayed mostly untouched.

Around this time I started thinking wow it's hot out here! Checked the weather and it feels like 108. Hmmm. I probably should take a break from this sun I've been in for six hours. But I was enjoying it.so.so.much. Still did the responsible thing and headed in.

We are such goofballs. I love having fun with this guy.

We had been invited to a Hilton Honors reception they were holding that night to give us a chance to meet HHonors members from all over. This was the spread.

Afterwards we asked if we could break the "need a reservation" rule and go to the French restaurant just for soups. Because they were that good. This is Mike on night two of his shrimp soup after we were escorted over by one of the HHonors reps to "get in".

Then we continued on with our dinner plans, which involved the plain ol' buffet for dinner that night. I went straight for the giant bowl of guac to top my dinner with.

Ok its not the prettiest dinner we had all week but I picked it and it was GOOD. I was happy they had a fajita station (hello omelet station) to make fajitas to order. Yep. Bring it.

I guess we were feeling kind of bold that night asking for special permissions but I had the idea to ask the host if they had any ice cream laying around. They didn't have any at the buffet but I KNEW one of the restaurants had it. (Did I mention we were given color-coded wristbands at our resort denoting we were Diamond members? We very much appreciated the kindness extended to us that week.)

Anyways. They found ice cream. And then he added, "would you like some chocolate to accompany that?" Why yes, yes I would.

The curtain was coming for him the whole meal, start to finish.

After we were stuffed, we headed back upstairs to our favorite spot and watched the sunset for the last time. I saw a girl with a photographer snapping away at this lone sailboat sailing into the sunset and thought, hey my iPhone can grab that pic too!

Maybe one of my fav Mike pics ever. So relaxed. So my husband. Love him so.

Gramma and Grampa Vacation - Day 3? ish?

Hodgepodge collection of pics that I *think* are from this day.
Summary - children had lots of fun. End. :)

Looks like Cass is walking with cousin Em into the park. I think.

Kids having ice cream at Beema's house.

We first saw this pic when I posted a #FindTheMike pic up. My mom replied with "Find your children. Oh there they are. Sitting in a water table next to a pool." We cracked up.

Very end of the night was girl time! Gramma took Cass and Emmy to get pedicures - Cassidy's first pedicure at a nail salon! I heard she sat very still and was very well behaved :)

Puerto Vallarta Vacation - Day 3

Slept in a bit this morning. By sleeping in, I think I mean about 6:30 or 6:45. Woo hoo!

When we got down to breakfast, we were greeted with the daily fruit spread. Oh my goodness. The day before I'd been messaging with some neighbors about a deal on peaches back home I was passing on since we were out of town. This was a nice daily prize in lieu of a peach bounty!

Breakfast looked almost exactly the same for us every day. Omelets. Meat. Like a breakfast fruit/yogurt parfait type thing. Except it was warm and thinner than yogurt. I really liked it. Coffee. And water!

It was shaping up to be a cloudy and overcast day. Look at all those clouds!

Didn't stop us from hanging out under the covered area of the pool deck. The covered area. Under the cloudy sky.

Sushi again...

Then it was time to relocate near the guac! And re apply sunscreen! Did I mention Mike didn't have any on for the cloudy portion of the morning? Because you know, hanging out under the covered pool deck under the clouds and all. At this point he did though! Because look at those sunny skies!

Time to watch parasail-ers take off and land for hours...

We stretched out legs a bit and found a sea urchin! Couldn't really see him but still knew Troy would think this was cool.

There were LOTS of crabs scurrying around. You can see those in the video!

Mike wanted to get IN the ocean! For real!!! Click, click, click went my camera to commemorate the moment!

Got back to the room. This is about the time we realized Mike was sunburned. It's also the time I realized we were basically out of sunscreen with 1.5 days left in Mexico. Ouch.

A nice cold shower and he was good to go. What a trooper.

I loved my outfit this night. Thanks Emily for starting your fab LuLaRoe business right before my tropical vacation. When Mike commented on my skirt he said, "Is that new?" To which I responded yes, I felt like it was good vacation wear. To which he responded, "Ah, the *hidden* cost of vacation. Vacation clothes." LOL.

Dinner - restaurant #3, the French restaurant. Would this be a winner at long last? It started out promising. This is Mike waiting patiently while I snap food pics. Cream of shrimp soup for him. French onion soup for me. Both winners.

Main courses arrived! Look how pretty! Count 'em up. There are three. My first entree, while beautiful looking, wasn't cooked through (chicken). If Mike admits it looks questionable you KNOW it was questionable. So I got beef tips instead and they were quite good. If I had to pick a sit down restaurant that was the "best" it was this one.

We had the idea to go upstairs to our favorite place for the sunset that night. The resort really wasn't very crowded and while there were a couple people around, it looks completely empty in this pic.

Such a relaxing day! Vacation is the best!
